Otto sono nuove produzioni e due produzioni nuove per la Scala. Sette titoli d’opera su dieci sono di autori italiani (Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti, Mascagni) e su libretto in lingua (Così fan tutte di Mozart).
Giuseppe Verdi è ancora in posizione dominante, con tre titoli: La traviata, Il trovatore, Simon Boccanegra.
Daniel Barenboim, Direttore Musicale del Teatro, dirigerà tre opere: La sposa dello Zar di Rimsky-Korsakov, in una produzione nuova con la regia di Dmitri Tcherniakov; Simon Boccanegradi Verdi, ripresa nello spettacolo del 2010; Così fan tutte di Mozart, nuova produzione con regia di Claus Guth. Daniel Barenboim sarà impegnato anche nella Stagione sinfonica del Teatro in marzo, nella Stagione della Filarmonica in febbraio e in un concerto speciale in giugno. La Traviata chiude le celebrazioni di quest’anno, come ottavo titolo verdiano, e apre la nuova Stagione il 7 dicembre 2013, con il ritorno di Daniele Gatti sul podio dell’opera, il debutto di Diana Damrau come Violetta sul nostro palcoscenico e la regia di Dmitri Tcherniakov. 
La Stagione del Ballo inizia il 17 dicembre con una Serata Ratmansky firmata dal coreografo russo del Concerto DSCH: tre pezzi, due dei quali in prima esecuzione. Ma ci sarà un’anticipazione e un’aggiunta: nella serata mista in cui viene ripresa Cavalleria Rusticana, vengono proposti Le Spectre de la rose di Fokin e La rose malade di Petit.
L’intera Stagione di danza è consacrata a titoli del repertorio classico: Jewels di Balanchine, Il Lago dei Cigni, Serata Petit (Le Jeune homme et la Mort e Pink Floyd Ballet), Don Chisciotte, Romeo e Giulietta. 
Fra le étoile e gli artisti ospiti: Svetlana Zakharova, Roberto Bolle, Massimo Murru, Natalia Osipova, Leonid Sarafanov, Polina Semionova, Ivan Vasiliev, Friedemann Vogel.
Un Ciclo Strauss rende omaggio ai 150 anni della nascita del musicista tedesco, con tre programmi sinfonici (per tre serate ciascuno) diretti da Esa-Pekka Salonen, Riccardo Chailly ePhilippe Jordan. All’interno del Ciclo Strauss sono inserite tre prime esecuzioni di altrettante nuove commissioni della Scala: a Bruno Mantovani, Luca Francesconi, Wolfgang Rihm.
Un nuovo Ciclo Pollini in quattro programmi pone in dialogo Beethoven e il nostro tempo, con 11 Sonate per pianoforte e brani di Boulez, Sciarrino, Stockhausen, Lachenmann. Ne faranno parte Pierre Boulez come direttore, l’Ensemble Intercontemporain di Parigi, il Klangforum Wien e Musikfabrik Köln.

Stagione 2013 del Teatro Massimo di Palermo
Le gravi condizioni finanziarie in cui si è riscontrato versare la Fondazione Teatro Massimo rendono impossibile la realizzazione della stagione artistica 2013 così come approvata prima del commissariamento della Fondazione medesima.
Di seguito riportiamo le variazioni del programma per i seguenti spettacoli:
  • SIEGFRIED: l’opera wagneriana viene annullata e sostituita da SETTE STORIE PER LASCIARE IL MONDO dal 23 al 27 ottobre.
  • GOTTERDAMMERRUNG: l’opera wagneriana viene annullata e sostituita da TRAVIATA dal 21 al 30 novembre
  • Concerto JULIA JONES: previsto inizialmente il 20 ottobre viene anticipato al 5 ottobre.
  • Concerto INKINEN: il concerto INKINEN previsto il 29 ottobre è anticipato al 12 ottobre e subisce il cambio del direttore con WILL HUMBURG
  • Concerto Wellber: il concerto Wellber del 26 settembre slitta al 6 dicembre e subisce il cambio del direttore con GÜNTER NEUHOLD.
  • SCHIACCIANOCI: le repliche de LO SCHIACCIANOCI previste inizialmente dal 17 al 22 dicembre presso il Teatro Massimo di Palermo, hanno subito variazioni e di conseguenza ci saranno variazioni anche nei TURNI DI ABBONAMENTO.
    • replica del 18 dicembre (181213A ) è stata ANNULLATA: il Turno A e' anticipato al giorno 17-12-2013 ore 20.30
    • replica del 19 dicembre (191213D) è stata ANNULLATA: il Turno D slitta al 22/12/2013 ore 17.30
    • replica del 20 dicembre (201213C) è stata ANNULLATA: il Turno C sempre stessa data ma ore 18.30(mi risulta questo orario non le 17.30 )
    • replica del 20 dicembre (201213H) è stata ANNULLATA: il Turno S2 per studenti anticipato al 18/12/2013 ore 18.30

Witch Hunt (Linbury Studio Theatre)
22 May – 25 May
Cathy Marston brings a new full-length work to the Linbury with Bern: Ballet.  Based on the harrowing tale of Anna Göldi, the ‘last witch in Europe’, it promises to be a powerful piece.

Mixed ProgrammeRaven Girl/Symphony in C (Main Stage)
24 May – 8 June
George Balanchine’s masterpiece Symphony in C will be performed alongside Raven Girl, a brand new work by The Royal Ballet’s Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor, created in collaboration with award-winning author Audrey Niffenegger.

Blood (Linbury Studio Theatre)
27 June & 28 June
Choreographer/dancer Jean Abreu explores the raw experience of being alive through a multimedia production that draws on images by acclaimed artists Gilbert & George. The score is by Paul Wolinski of 65daysofstatic.

14 July
From students as young as 11 to graduates, dancers from the Royal Ballet School take to the main stage to showcase the breadth of talent.
